The Loving Disfellowshipping Arrangement
by headisspinning inmy youngest sister is the only person in my jw family who has had any real contact with my husband and i and our baby.
for the first year she cut us off too but then after a while she seemed to realize how horrible it was and she opened up to us.. well, she is very easily influenced by the family and so she cut us off again.
she tried to feed me the line about it being for our own good blah, blah, blah.. here is an excerpt from how i replied:.

Mickey Mouse's summary of today's WT
by Mickey mouse ineven if you're got one foot in the grave, you'd better be working your ass off (for free) for the slave.. if you're feeling stressed, stop everything else in your life and concentrate on the meetings and ministry because those could never be the cause of stress.
oh no.
it's probably all those pesky holidays and recreation stressing you out.. now, can we all spell c.u.l.t?.

I haven't read the article but it sounds like the same old stuff.
It is amazing how the jw religion continuously hits the common people with unrealistic requests, and how sucessful they are !
Looking back, I am amazed at how much foolish actions I did in the name of worshipping the governing body and their so-called
arrogant "channel to God" attitude.
I recently had the opportunity to get together with some of the young people from my old hall who walked away from all of the mind games and I was really amazed at the pure anger that many of them expressed. But it all came from the unrealistic expectations forced on them from the wts which was filtered through their parents.
SO much anger, it is really shameful what this religion blindly expects its followers to do.

"Do NOT go beyond the things written (but we can)."
by TimothyT ini was doing some research yesterday on this scripture: 1 corinthians 4:6!.
"now, brothers, these things i have transferred so as to apply to myself and a?pollos for your good, that in our case you may learn the [rule]: do not go beyond the things that are written, in order that you may not be puffed up individually in favor of the one against the other.".
read this from the watchtower 2008, april 15th, page 7:.

Is anyone here doing April's 30 hour Auxillary Pioneer Special ?
by RubaDub ini know there are many active jw's here and was just wondering if anyone is going to take advantage of april's special of only 30 hours for the month.. i actually might, just to irk some of the elders that can't figure me out in their minds.. it would involve 2 long days ... that's it.
even i can go out in fs in the morning with the group and hang out at bus stops and train stations the rest of the day.. i am really tempted.. rub a dub.

Regular Pioneers: How low will the WT go?
by Alfred inso i just came across an article in the watchtower (december 1, 1959 page 726) where it mentions that pioneers (or should i say culportuers?
) in the 1930s had to put in a minimum of 150 hoursper month in field circus with the phonograph (i'm guessing the record being played was rutherford's "millions" speech).
i have to wonder how many pioneers the wt would actually have nowadays if this were still the minimum monthly quota and if they'd still have to stand on a street corner with some sort of audio system... in today's economy, i really don't think they'll find much more than 2 potential candidates per circuit... which is obviously the reason that the gb keeps lowering the bar... .

But, I will say this: nobody has any business being on the pioneer list if they can't support themselves.
Interesting comment,, I know of a lady who is a pioneer but :
1) she is divorced, (2 x's) and does not work. her 1st ex husband and son support her lifestyle. Probably out of some type of guilt.
And several times the elders from her hall actually have given her money so that she can pay her bills.

When do you begin counting time?
by pubtruth infor those who were in or still are.. when do/did you begin counting time?
as you left for the house group, or after the meeting was over?
did you count the car trip to and from?

I would start when I got to the hall / book study.
But as a side point that I just cannot overlook, there was an elder in my old hall who was really anal.
EX: he would start counting time when he rang the first door, if we took a break he would stop counting at the last door,,,,, take your break then
start up again when he rang the next doorbell. When he would pioneer he would not get out of the car when the group took a break.
His motive was to guilt everybody into taking a short break, and get right back out in service.
My two boys still talk about this guy anytime we talk about bad experiences as a witness.

Apostate Psychology
by Spade init's only fair that the psychology of apostates be assessed as they're intent on analyzing the psychology of jehovah's witnesses.

understanding mind control among jehovah's witnesses.

Interesting comment .
I was a jw for over 30 years, and reading your statement is very common among insecure jw's.
Why are you on this site, and why are you examining Freeminds, isn't that a bad thing ?
For your information, I am much more spiritual, and sure of what I am, and where I am going since leaving the witnesses. It was a hard thing to do,
but the benefits have be greater than I ever imagined !
Good luck to you in your quest for finding the real purpose of your life !
